System Requirements

Downloads

The latest builds are available at echophrase.com/download, which auto-detects your platform.

Windows

Windows 10/11 (x64)

macOS

macOS 13.3+ (Apple Silicon)

Linux (Alpha)

AppImage (x64)
Linux ships from the same CrabNebula CDN as every other platform, in two formats - pick whichever fits your distro. Debian/Ubuntu users can install the .deb instead of the AppImage:
Download echophrase.deb (x64)
Linux is in Alpha - functional but rough around the edges (CPU-only) and not yet code-signed. Windows and macOS are fully supported: those builds are code-signed, and macOS builds are notarized with Apple, so they install without Gatekeeper or SmartScreen workarounds. All downloads resolve to the latest release (currently shipping with beta version numbers) via CrabNebula Cloud’s CDN.

Package Managers

macOS: Homebrew

Installs the same CrabNebula-hosted build as the direct download above.

Windows: winget

Installs the same CrabNebula-hosted build as the direct download above.

Windows: Scoop

Installs the same signed build as the direct download above. Echophrase’s built-in updater stays out of Scoop’s way, so use scoop update echophrase.

GPU Acceleration

Echophrase auto-detects the fastest available device on first launch — you don’t need to configure anything, and there’s no driver setup to do.
  • Windows: DirectML on any DirectX 12 GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Qualcomm). Built into Windows, no install required.
  • macOS: Metal acceleration on Apple Silicon, macOS 13.3+.
  • Linux: CPU. GPU acceleration on the roadmap.

Linux limitations

  • CPU only - GPU (CUDA) acceleration will arrive in a later release.
  • Global hotkey bindings are not yet available - use Open Mic mode instead (Settings -> Audio Input).
See Requirements for hardware recommendations and the model support matrix. NVIDIA users on Windows can optionally enable CUDA from Settings -> GPU Acceleration.
