Solutions for microphone and audio problems.Microphone Not Detected
Check System Permissions
Windows:- Settings → Privacy → Microphone
- Ensure “Allow apps to access your microphone” is ON
- Scroll down and enable Echophrase specifically
- System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy
- Select Microphone
- Check the box next to Echophrase
- Check PulseAudio/PipeWire settings
- Ensure your user is in the
audiogroup - Try:
sudo usermod -aG audio $USERthen log out/in
Verify in Echophrase
- Open Settings → Audio Input
- Check the Input Device dropdown
- Select your microphone manually if needed
Poor Audio Quality
Reduce Background Noise
- Use a headset or directional microphone
- Move away from fans, AC units, etc.
- Raise the voice threshold in Settings → Audio Input so quiet background noise is not treated as speech
Improve Recognition
- Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
- Position the microphone 6-12 inches from your mouth
- Avoid speaking while typing or moving
